Qondio Upgrade
On July 20, 2011, we rolled out a major upgrade to our systems. The objective of this update was an ambitious re-writing of the rules of the game. Here are some of the key points, specifically those points of interest to long-time users of Qondio.
Signatures
Many webmasters like posting at forums because they give you signatures. These tend to be dofollow and a great way of getting hundreds of links - you get one for every post. But you can pack only up to 2 or 3 links into a signature. And if you edit your signature, it changes site-wide. You cannot adapt your signature to your post. So that's why we give you 500 signatures. Blink and read that again. That's right, FIVE HUNDRED. Each signature can have a different link and anchor text. Use them when you share a statement or a link, when you reply to someone, or even when you publish intel.
Shares
Share a statement. Share a link to a resource. We particularly encourage the sharing of resources related to webmastering and SEO and making money online, but you could share pictures of cats if your followers are into that sort of thing. Each time you share something, your signature gets exposure. Like something shared by a fellow member? Re-share it, and your signature gets on there too.
Dofollow Bios
If the link in your bio corresponds to an authenticated website in your account, it will be dofollow. Bios are automatically appended to intel, and you specify them when contributing intel.
Easier Authentication
Authenticating new websites is much easier now. The same authentication code works for all the sites in your portfolio. Just add the auth code to your template and you've pretty much authenticated the entire site. However, we are no longer allowing Squidoo or Zazzle pages to be authenticated.
IntelMart
When Qondio launched (as Qassia) in 2008, we promised you unlimited backlinks. And we gave you unlimited backlinks from qondio.com. But nowadays folks want backlinks from a wide variety of sites. No problem. Add your original, unique intel to IntelMart. Fellow members of Qondio will offer to publish it. Choose the offer that suits you best. We've built in numerous controls and safeguards to prevent content theft. But if you are a legitimate user and you need fresh, never-before published content, go to IntelMart, and get it for free. Just don't forget to include the dofollow backlink the contributor wants.
Integrated List-Building
The majority of the traffic to Qondio is from people who are not members of Qondio. Each time one of these visitors sees your intel or one of your shares, they have the option of subscribing to your list. Export your list and use it for email marketing. No other site has ILB, yet.
Activation by Appreciation
Users can now sign up for free, but they may not add intel, screen intel, or share something until they activate their account.
They can activate their accounts either by paying the Lifetime Membership Fee (now hiked to $19.99) or by accruing enough 'appreciations' in response to comments left on your intel. Please 'appreciate' nice, useful, good comments. Do not appreciate bland useless comments. We do not want that kind of user. We want users who are prepared to make a commitment, play by the letter and the spirit of the rules, and help make this great community even greater.
As you can see, we have raised the bar just a wee bit higher. Qondio aims to be the premier network for online entrepreneurs, and we are well on our way. 3+ years of experience and surviving the toughest algorithm updates. A loyal community of core users. We also introduced some technical changes. Qondio has been thriving since the latest algorithm overhaul introduced by the leading search engine of our times. This is not surprising because we introduced obsessive quality-control measures way back in 2009. To ensure that we continue thriving, we are introducing even more changes. In particular, intel is now no longer served from under the www.qondio.com subdomain, but from under your user subdomains. This should help users with high-quality intel be less affected by those users with 'thin' content. Also, we are now no longer allowing short intel. This is unfortunate, as intel does not have to be long to be good, but it is increasingly difficult for short intel to perform well in the search engine results.
