Qondio Features
Qondio is a sophisticated set of tools and features
designed to help you succeed online. Here are some of the core specs for your handy reference. Qondio is not a
social network. It is a network for netrepreneurs designed from the ground up to give exposure to your websites
and help you gain traction in your online endeavors.
Websites
Users can add websites to their portfolio. These may be deep links. The only sites disallowed are adults only sites
and affiliate links. We also do not allow Squidoo and Zazzle pages any longer, due to never-ending technical issues
at their end.
Websites must be authenticated, by means of placing an authentication code on the website. This may be removed
after authentication has taken place. The process is automated and takes about a minute. Authentication is necessary
to prevent the addition of affiliate links as websites. Affiliate links redirect to duplicate content and are not
websites. It is acceptable to have affiliate links ON the website one is authenticating.
Websites added to one's portfolio can be allocated Reward Points. Websites are displayed on one's profile page with
screen shot and dofollow link if allocated more than 500 and 1,000 Reward Points, respectively.
Sitecheck
Sites are checked daily to see if they are up and functioning. If a site fails Sitecheck it is removed temporarily. If it
fails Sitecheck 5 times in a row, the site is de-authenticated. There is no need to open a support ticket and inform us if a
suspended site is up and running again. Sitecheck is fully automated and the site will be activated again if the site is
indeed back up.
Intel
Intel is our term for articles. Intel means 'intelligence' and we use this jargon because articles
do their job best if they provide useful information, intellgence, or entertainment.
Intel must be 100% original and unique, i.e. never before published on the web.
Intel can be added to Qondio itself or to IntelMart. When added to Qondio, it undergoes a
screening process. Intel are screened by fellow members. That means you should screen intel, too.
Each intel can bear a prominent backlink with screenshot, a signature, and a bio with links to your
website. Adding intel to Qondio is a good way to gain exposure because, as a trusted authority site,
our pages perform extremely well in the search engine results. Intel are served from the contributor's
profile page, which is a subdomain. As such, the more active the contributor is on Qondio and
the more high-quality intel the contributor owns, the better each will perform.
External links and images can be added to intel. The external links are nofollow and must be relevant to the intel and of value to the
reader.
Intel Screening
Intel are screened before being published, using crowdsourcing. Some sites have a human editor. The problem with human
editors is that they can have bad days and reject good articles, or approve lousy articles. At Qondio
we have the most advanced screening and rating system on the web. Since a large
number of members screen the article, the grade is more precise, and it's not a big issue if one or two of the members
are having an off day. It takes about the same amount of time
for an article to get screened as other sites, though it depends on how many members are online. Screeners are
rewarded with points and links on the front page of Qondio.
Intel Comments
Qondio's comments system is versatile and sophisticated.
Comments may be left on intel by users other than the contributor. The contributor will not see a comment box, as the
notion of commenting on one's own work is absurd. Contributor's can, however, reply to comments. Comments can be turned
off by the user and specific users can be barred from commenting via the "blacklist" feature. The contributor can also
delete comments.
Comments do not include signatures as these would dilute the value of the backlinks for the contributor. However,
the link to the commentator's profile on Qondio is dofollow.
Comments are intended to enhance the intel, and not serve as a purpose of
IntelMart
In July, 2011, we introduced IntelMart.
Instead of publishing to Qondio, it is possible to publish intel on other members websites. Members who need
high-quality unique content for their websites can come to IntelMart and offer to publish articles. The author of the
article chooses one of the offers and gets a backlink from that site, in the form of his/her bio attached to the intel.
Signatures
Forums commonly have a feature called signatures. This is a short line of text with a link or two appended to all your
posts. The problem with those is that if you change it, all of your signatures change, and it's not possible to adapt the
signature's link to the context of the post. That's why at Qondio we allow you to set 500 signatures. Currently
signatures can be used for shares and intel.
Shares
Did you find something useful on the web? Share it with other members. It can be a news story, a blog post, a forum
thread, a video, anything. It can even be a statement, i.e. something you have to say.
In return for sharing, one of your 500 signatures is attached to your share. When you share something, it is distributed
to your followers. They may opt to re-share it, again in return for a signature. Not only do you discover links and
resources useful for making it on the web, in the process of sharing you gain exposure for your websites. It's
called, networking for netrepreneurs.
Integrated List-Building
Every time you contribute an intel or share something, you are inviting
anyone who sees the intel or share to join your list and get updated whenever you contribute something new. While
within Qondio the easiest way to create a list is to gain followers, the vast majority of Qondio traffic consists
of surfers who are not members of Qondio, and who land on the site after searching for something.
Again, this is something found only Qondio.
Notes
Notes may be left for other users, on their "Wall". Notes are intended as a means for users to express their support and
appreciation for a user's presence and involvement, not as a way of maintaining a conversation. There is no means of
replying to a note.
Private Messages
Private communication between users is possible by means of Private Messages. We do not usually monitor private messages,
as they are intended to be private. However, attempts to market products or services, or even asking users to 'follow',
or asking users to screen intel favorably, is not allowed and our system is designed to detect such messages. Recipients of
messages which go against the rules are encouraged to let the administrators know.
Following Users
Users' activity on Qondio can be followed by going to their profile page and clicking on Follow. When following a user,
members can specify whether to follow the user via My Qondio (a web stream) or email alerts or both. Do not follow users
unless you are interested in their activity and you are willing to interact with the user's contributions. Do not follow
a user simply as an attempt to get the user to reciprocate.
The list of users one is following is public and available via the user's profile page. The list of users one is being
followed by is not public information, but it is available to the user in question in the Account.
Appreciations
If you leave a comment on someone's intel, the contributor of the intel has the option to 'appreciate' it. We are using
'appreciations' as a measure of quality and to cut down on spam and abuse.
For instance, new members must accrue a set number of appreciations before they
may add intel, screen intel, or share something. Contributors are advised to 'appreciate' only comments worthy of being
appreciated.
Qascade
Qascade is our static directory. It is a unique, fully automated cascading tag-based system. If you want your articles or
websites to feature in Qascade, all you need to do is add sufficient tags when adding the intel or the website. If the website has
enough Reward Points, of if the intel's rating is high enough, they will feature in Qascade. The higher the number of
Reward Points or grade, respectively, the higher up the page they will feature.
Reward Points
Reward Points are given in exchange for screening and contributing intel. We use Reward Points to sort websites, and as a
threshold. For example, only members with a certain number of Reward Points may access IntelMart. Only websites which have
been allocated enough Reward Points will feature a screenshot and dofollow link on the member's profile page.
Revenue Sharing
Intel published on Qondio come with ads. Those ads can be 100% owned by you, via AdQore.
It may be just pennies and cents, but if you have a strong portfolio of articles, it can add up especially if you have popular
intel widely referenced across the web.
Referrals
Qondio used to have a referrals system, which spurred our growth but also triggered an enormous amount of abuse. In 2009,
referrals were suspended. In July, 2011, we brought them back as part of our upgrade to Qondio 3.0, with careful controls
to prevent abuse.
